Ask Alan

Post by Wild Rover »

Courier used to have a little advert proclaiming "Ask Alan", whereby employees would ask our "esteemed" chairman a question and he'd reply. That seems to have stopped now. Courier doesn't appear to carry the "Ask Alan" banner anymore - i wonder why?

Anyway, this is your chance, on line, to ask Alan what you want. Perhaps if we get enough replies, the whole topic can be printed out and posted to the man.

My question:

Can you justify your salary and bonuses along with Adam Crozier's salary?

Hello Wild Rover,

Yes, of course I can justify my salary. Let's cut through the treacle and I'll give it to you straight. You see, old mate, the likes of Steven Gerrard and David Beckham get far more dosh than I do and they've only got to look out for ten other lads on the team. I've got to look after a couple of hundred thousand people in my team, so you can see, my sevices come cheap!
It has been said that I only work for Royal Mail for one day a week, but if you look at other people with similar status to myself, The Pope, or The Archbishop of Canterbury (or in Adam's case The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Free Presbyterian Church of Scotland) they also only work one day a week, and they're always nicely dressed and never look short of a bob or two.
There are far too many activists about these days who seem to think that just because they work far, far harder than I do that this somehow entitles them to more pay. That's just bullshit! What our people have to understand is the fact that we live in a competetive market. Between us, me and Adam (Wee Jock, to his friends) have managed to knacker an industry with traditions going all the way back to Henry VIII and don't you forget it! Plague, pestilence, World War and Thatcher couldn't achieve what we've done to the postal service in the last three years. Anyway, must dash! I've got tickets for me and Adam to go and watch Leeds United. Adam is a big fan of non-league football and I've set Leeds United, my favorite team, on a path whereby we can combine our passions. Leeds United for the FA Vase in 2009! And they've got me to thank for it!

Best Regards,

Allan.

Nice one, I didn't know Crozier was religious.....People are only religious when it suits them to be.....I once got offered the job of being the next Archbishop of Canterbury, but they wouldn't give it to me when I said I wanted Sundays off.

Most people are religious when it suits them and I suppose Adam is no different. Him and Allan (look at me, I'm in the Church Times) probably have more in common with the shower who were thrown out of the temple than with the person who threw them out.

Response from Big Al
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets
