An Italian man went to police for help after being ordered to leave Wokingham Post Office.
The man’s identity documents were seized by Post Office staff after he attempted to process money sent by his mother from Italy on Friday at around 11.30am.
Staff became suspicious of the man’s identification card because the photograph had been taped in place. They then told the man he was being abusive and he was asked to leave, but without his documents.
The man went to Wokingham police station in Denmark Street to ask for help and officers accompanied him back to the Post Office in Broad Street. They explained the situation and the man’s documents were returned.
However, he was told by Post Office staff he could not process the money transfer until the next day because of his behaviour when his documents were taken.
Officers also warned the man about his behaviour.
