Dear Colleague

RDC And VOC Rationalisation

The department recently received correspondence from the business regarding proposals in relation to potential RDC and VOC rationalisation. This information was shared with representatives who attended the department’s recent Quarterly Area Representatives meetings and has resulted in the department receiving a number of enquiries.

In order to ensure that Branches and their members are fully aware that these issues are being discussed and that they are being carried out in line with the Business Transformation Agreement, a meeting was arranged with the business for Monday 5th March 2012, at which it was confirmed that this is only the beginning of the consultation process and no final decisions have been made at this stage. In addition it was also agreed that a National consultation process document will be agreed and communicated in due course.

It was further agreed to allay any fears our representatives and members may have in regard to this issue that a Joint Statement would be issued and a copy of the agreed Joint Statement is attached to this LTB for your information purposes.

Branches and representatives requested to ensure that the attached Joint Statement is given maximum publicity amongst our members in RDC’s and VOC’s within the Network business unit.

Any enquiries in relation to this LTB should be addressed to Terry Pullinger, Assistant Secretary, e-mail: dwyatt@cwu.org quoting reference number: 231.02.

Yours sincerely

Terry Pullinger
Assistant Secretary

Joint Statement regarding potential RDC and VOC rationalisation

Further to speculation last week regarding potential RDC and VOC rationalisation the signatories of this document would like to reassure everyone that we are engaging in a genuine process in line with the Transformation Agreement and the commitments contained in it. No final decisions have been made and as such we would urge you to consider rumour and hearsay with caution and await further formal briefings.

We have met today to discuss the consultation process and will provide further information upon conclusion of a joint statement. We fully appreciate the need for you to receive information in a timely manner and both parties have committed to move at pace to ensure this takes place.

In addition, we can assure you that once the consultation process has been defined your local representatives and management teams will be fully involved in developing potential options for the future.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
