Mail Centre Closures

Post by moon71 »

Cambridge, York and Worcester have 12 months review, Ipswich in 2 years. Apparantly no one ever survives a review.

Worst kepted secret in Royal Mail perhaps?

Anyone know anymore?

The Cambridge Mail Centre manager told me.

As of today, all our CB managers were informed of our 12 month review, and they are preparing our 'big chat' that we have been waiting for, since last year.

Cambridge was a great office 10 years ago, but it slowly got infected with the 'who gives a sh-t' attitude.

Worcester is in the process of being closed, the Midlands MC review was last year. York's closure was announced in 2010. It's not a 12 month review, it's a 90 day consultation followed by a decision. After the decision, there is a further 90 days when alternatives can be put forward followed by a final decision. This 90 days can be extented further if there is continued issues, eg the London MC review.
I have not heard that Cambridge is under review currently. Is it planned to move the traffic to Peterborough?

Where will the CB work go:

As described by the Mail centre manager in an un-official conversation based upon his personnal opinion. CB1-5 (cambridge city) CB6-7 (ely) CB8 (newmarket) will all go to peterborough. CB9 (haverhill) and CB10-11(saffron walden) will go to chelmsford.

We will all have our 'BIG CHAT' tomorrow, but for most of the CB staff, it's been the worst kept secret for years.

in ipswich, we were always told it was between us and cambridge. for us both to get the chop is a bugger to say the least.

In Anglia I think there will be 4 MCs - Chelmsford, Romford, Norwich and Peterborough. Most of the IP code is north of Ipswich and Chelmsford has taken in SS so it is likely that IP will go to Norwich.
So expect Cambridge to close in 2013 and Ipswich in 2014.
York is going to Leeds this year and Bradford into Leeds 2013.
