Tax credit change could cost families £4k a year

Post by POSTMAN »

Thought i'd post this up in a new thread as some of you are talking about tax credits...

Low income families with parents in part-time work could lose nearly £4,000 per year because of a change in tax credits, the Labour Party says.

Families can currently qualify for Working Tax Credit if one parent works at least 16 hours a week.

About 212,000 families could be hit from April when the threshold is raised to 24 hours per week, the official data highlighted by Labour shows...

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Well done for posting this as its been giving me sleepless nights! I have a PT job at the moment of 20 hours PW I have already been told there is no chance of having my hours made up to 24.
I heavily rely on the RM hours as a much needed income top up. However with the changes to the WTC getting these hours is going to be critical in maintaining the benefit I currently get through WTC. However since Christmas my shifts have been extreemly erratic and have not had any work for 2 weeks!

I realise that any work with AnGREED/RM is on an "as needed" basis but I sometimes wonder if there are other forces at work preventing the Casuals from working when in my experience the work does not stop and my MC is always busy...anyone shed any light?
