Thousands of people have been warned post could arrive at their homes later after Royal Mail announced a raft of changes.
The changes will only affect people living in Ilkley as Royal Mail bosses are introducing new delivery methods and revised delivery routes as part of a modernisation drive by the company.
As a result, some people may get their mail later, although some could get it earlier, and delivery times could also be affected by the volume of mail and parcels to be delivered.
The company says it is making the changes at the Ilkley delivery office to be more efficient, as fewer letters are posted every day and staff are delivering more parcels.
New equipment will also be introduced to reduce the risk of injury to postmen and women carrying heavy bags, the Royal Mail says, and also warned the changes would require “a period of adjustment”.
Royal Mail’s collections and delivery sector manager Paul Pemberton said: “We are proud of the high regard in which our postmen and women are held in the Ilkley area. The local delivery team and I are fully committed to providing a high quality of service that is as reliable and friendly as customers have come to expect from Royal Mail over many years.”
For Ilkley, Royal Mail says it will continue to deliver in the morning and for a longer period during the day and many customers will continue to get their mail by lunchtime.
The time customers receive mail will depend on where they live on the new delivery route, the company said, and it may be later or possibly earlier than current delivery times.
When mail volumes vary, there may be adjusted delivery arrangements and times.
Any customers with queries can call the customer services team on 0845 601 1399, while deaf and hard-of-hearing customers can use textphone 0845 600 0606.
Local elected representatives and business groups are also being advised of these changes.

Re: Ilkley mail delivery shake-up planned
The mail changes are affecting many areas
In our area...
If we go out later, the mail will be delivered later, unless we walk faster and the mail will be on time.
But if we go out on time the mail maybe later if we have a lot to deliver.
Sometimes when we have less, and we can slow down and the mail is late again.
And if a few posties don`t turn up the mail sometimes doesn`t go out at all.
Most days our system works, but we have the odd days when it dosn`t. or we don`t use the system at all.
We have been told last week, not use our own cars, then tell us there is not enough vans and can we us our own cars.
Sometimes the job is changed and made so complicated, that we forget what the changes were. that we were told to do.
Tuesdays is our easier day, but can be a busy day, after sorting out the mistakes from monday
Wednesdays is alway a busy day unless there a low volume of mail, and then we go out late and finish early
Thursdays is always so busy with no time to even speak, but last week we had 30 min WTL meeting.
Fridays is always easy for me as i am not there, its my day off.
Saturday i am recovering from friday...so its a normal day
Working for RM is a funny old place where the rules can change everyday. now do i use may car or the van tomorrow.
