Discussions between Royal Mail and the Communications Workers Union (CWU), aimed at resolving pay negotiations, have broken down. As of midday, Monday September 10th, the situation regarding industrial action is unclear.
Royal Mail is willing to talk more to attempt to resolve the dispute but we must run the business and that means commencing required changes.
There will be further updates as soon as we have more information to share. The CWU is required to provide 7 days notice for official industrial action they wish to take.

Bearing in mind they asked for more talks

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

If they'd said for official industrial action they may wish to take, that would suggest RM haven't been notified by the CWU of new strike dates, and that RM were basically challenging the CWU to call more strikes, in the mistaken belief that the new strikes won't be as strongly supported as before.
But because the wording actually reads for official industrial action they wish to take, my reading of that statement is that Billy & Dave told them the membership will be out on strike again, but we'll let you know in our own good time what the dates are after we've thrashed out a strategy with a PEC meeting

This is all you can expect from a lacklustre leadership! RM are going to go ahead with later starts from Monday - we should have preempted that by calling for strikes on that day - we had the opportunity because the talks broke down on Sunday the 9th - Monday the 10th give notice everyone strikes Monday 17th followed by rolling days thereafter.
By the time we are ready to call strike dates again we will be a week into RMs executive changes!
As per usual we are on the back foot - talk about Lions led by Donkeys - to be honest with you I don't think they are fit for Blackpool beach!!!!
