as a rule the HCT high capacity trolley (the big red one) gets used mainly for hybrid duties or no more travelling than 1 mile from the office

the LWT (light wweight trolley) is used from the back of a van on delivery

Dont complain of bad backs then as the trolleys are there to get the weight off the shoulder
It is also slower with a trolley so you cut off more as it would take an extra hour with a trolley to complete the round.

No, once the revision comes in then you have to use the equipment provided, rules are rules and if you get caught then they will take great pleasure in sacking you

Actually in this case he is not a troll - he is a fairly new Postie and new in the employment market who is perhaps a little naive in his view of RM.

@karchun - the the use of assigned equipment for each duty is Mandatory - so if the duty your on is designed for a golf trolley then you have to use it. If you take a chance and injure yourself, perhaps going sick as a result - Royal Mail may well deem you as wholly responsible for the accident/injury. A quick read through the sick absence threads on RMC will show you what can happen then.

You won't mind it for the first year. Maybe 5 years.
Then when you start getting back problems or knee problems or shoulder pain or you suffer a hernia you will begin to hate the bag with a vengeance.

Sorry for my earlier comment karchun,i see people every day carrying 2 sometimes 3 on their shoulders just so they can make it back in time, they feel under pressure i understand that but when they hurt themselves and say its through carrying a pouch they wont have a leg to stand on,

Since i started using a trolley i do not carry more than half a bag with a couple of bundles and packets at the most. The other day i deceided to expand one of my loops and ended up carring a full weight bag. Jesus it brought back bad memories, not done it since
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........
