Peterhead posties ensure deliveries

BLUE Toon posties were given a pat on the back recently after they pulled together to ensure the mail was delivered despite a power cut which affected the whole of central Peterhead.

Power was cut to the area from 5.15am to 8.30am on Friday, January 7.

This also meant the Royal Mail delivery office on Kirk Street was without power with the exception of low level emergency lighting.

The postal staff rolled up their sleeves and with a fair bit of ‘Dunkirk’ spirit in the air and managed to sort all the mail using personal torches.

They even had torches lighting the way to the caller’s office from the main road and someone in the yard escorting staff into the office.

Due to the sheer determination and commitment of the posties all the mail was sorted in difficult conditions and delivered to their customers.

They will get no thanks. Royal Mail bosses will still have no respect for 'em. Going the "extra mile" for this crowd, is truly a mug's game, nothing more, nothing less.

Surely the manager should be disciplined for ignoring H&S?
