Lucky escape

Post by xmaswally »

After being messed about by angard [being offered shifts i could not do after applying for ones i could do] gave up on idea of coming back to do a couple of weeks and get a few bob for xmas.So imagine my suprise to see the shifts i wanted being advertised days later by Manpower, one phone call some form filling and ten minutes later i was employed on the shifts i wanted.
Having been through months waiting, security checks,no emails or job offers till a phone call mon 5th dec offering me a shift i couldnt do i thought i had just been unlucky. All the shifts were on offer with manpower but the two guys i worked with on my first day [both angard] had been offered 2-10 when in fact one wanted earlies and the other nights [one was allowed to
change after about ten days]so this must have been why the 2-10 was not available.

The day i started people told me stories of not being paid how they couldnt get hold of anyone from angard no one answering emails, all pretty shabby i thought, didnt know how lucky i was to avoid this pathetic bunch i worked with some really good casuals who were treated appalingly by angard [and reading todays posts still are being]all i can say is best of luck cos it looks like its going to take a bit of sorting out and am i so glad to have had a Lucky Escape

I had a lucky escape as well in that I didn't even manage to book my registration/interview,but still got some work over Christmas as I ended up on a different agency working for Parcelforce, got paid on time and I've just had a phone call offering me some extra shifts.

Not only that, but even on the 13th December another agency was putting new leaflets out for more temps! Unreal. By the time they enlisted the Christmas post would be on the wane anyway.
