Its my guess nights is going to be a popular choice for senior chaps & chapess's as it attracts extra allowances(ie dark money/night allowance) and if the person is in their 50's will help to contribute extra towards their pensions.

Just been looking at the duties, not overly impressed with them, some of the nights are ok,but there are some that finish at 08.00 or later, not only will you be fighting your way to back to HCN in rush hour traffic from your last run,but you'll be fighting you way home in it as well, some nights have s/a built in to them. There are some 4 day weeks Tues-Fri 04.00 start, could be attractive if it wernt for the 3 hours of dock work on the end part of the duty, the Tues-Sat earlies have a late Saturday finish(s/a non detatchable 15.00hrs)Hertsmail wrote:What shifts do the senior MGV bods tend go for at Watford Hemel and Stevenage - just wondering as we are about to resign with these offices.
Looks to little bits of assist dock/despatch of most duties.

Re: What duties do the senior driver have Hemel etc
Well the resign has been done, some people were displaced from their current shifts on to another shift due to over subscription, the use of the MTSF agreement for resigns was brutal for some colleagues, the traditional way of resigns ie...stright seniority is favoured by most of the mgv drivers. The reps from Stevenage hemel & Watford who are on the project team along with Royal Mail managers done their best to place people on their prefered shifts but had to be guided by the MTSF .
The new duties start Monday, should cause the traffic office a major headache, got no doubt some runs will have been overlooked.
