Interesting chat with the Tax Office today

Got a payslip and saw code 0T1 being used which is stopping tax that I shouldn't be paying as this is my first ever job.

Rang tax office on 0845 300 0627........waited 10 minutes then explained that Anguard is not giving P46s to staff that haven't got a P45 or explaining to them what code 0T1 is like the tax office website says they should. The interesting bit is that Anguard have told the tax office that I have another job......wonder how they arrived at that when I have sent them a total of 4 P46's (one to each address just to make sure) stating RM was my only job. Anyway code changed straight away to 747L which is what it should be.

Well done on getting it sorted, I can see a lot of people having a job to sort theirs out ie:- trying to get the over payments back but also waiting ages for their P45

Get this.

I phoned up HMRC this morning, since I recieved my pay slip today.

I got paid £246.75, £12.93 National insurance (fair enough)... and a "Net Deduction" of £88.83.

Lol, so I actually only got £144.99 in my bank for 37.5 hours on £6.58 an hour.

Anyway, spoke to some guy at HMRC, he told me my tax code is correct and said I won't have to pay ANY tax on the first £700 I earn.
He said no tax has been paid, and doesn't know why I've such a big "Net deduction"

I thought it was some ridiculous emergancy tax code or something, but turns out it's nothing to do with tax, they've just deducted it from me?

Although I'm not complaining too much, I got paid the most out of everyone in my office. Lol

Being right royally robbed left right & centre here, Getting £6.08 for night shifts & getting OT1, I haven't worked out if my number of hours are right yet, its Wednesday & no sign of last weeks payslip yet ...... Ahh sod it I'm just gonna jump off the mail centre roof, easier solution
