Tel Aviv - An early morning robbery went as planned for a group of thieves, until they found they did not steal the right safe.

The robbers used a bulldozer to break through a wall of a post office in the city of Rishon LeZion, south of Tel Aviv, at about 1 am Thursday, destroying a large section of the building.

Although they managed to break the wall, enter the building, steal a safe, load it onto a truck and escape, they committed the error of taking the wrong item in an otherwise well executed crime.

The safe they stole contained stamps and envelopes, but no cash, Israel's Channel 10 reported. The safe with the money was found at the demolition scene fully intact and was taken by police.

The robbers, with a lifetime supply of stamps, are still at large.
