Has any-one heard is it right that they have stopped taking packets to the midlands bolthole in Nuneaton, we have been told that they cannot handle the influx of so many packets, have been told that the place is in right mess, AMAZON packets everywhere, and not any Royal Mail staff in sight, ALL agency, except the odd Manager.

I know our area has asked for any volunteers to make their way there today (Sun) to try and dig them out, and pressure being placed on managers to "volunteer". Enjoy your weekend ladies and gents before it really bites i say.

I worked there for a few weeks before I "saw where the door was" and quit, I couldn't stand the lies anymore.

People who I worked with were all Angard casuals, the only RM staff on site were Managers, or at lest they had RM "Manager" Hi-Vis.

On my shift there typically 4 of them "on the floor" each shift, very very rarely did any of them actually do any sorting. We had a visit one day from some "Senior RM guy" and then the one RM managers did sort for a couple of hours.

One manager did spent almost all of his time organising the out going Yorks and helping load these onto the trucks, so he was very much more "hand-on".

Place was operating on 3 shifts, all 100% Angard as far as I know.

The people on my shift were in general all very good and worked very hard each day, some days it did seem that the night shift hadn't done that much.

Place was actually a dis-used warehouse, that had had minimal refurbishment before our first day, was not a good place to work, apart from the "normal" Angard abissmal service and support.

On some days we received extra loads from Nottingham, we were told "they can't cope".

Work in my time was 95%+ Amazon packages. In my first week there, some of the Yorks contained Amazon packages that appeared to have already been in the "system" for over 2 weeks.

We were told that there should have been around 50 casuals per shift, on my shift I think the most we ever got to was around 25 on one day, so there was always more than enough to do.

New faces appeared each day and some familiar faces disappeared each day.

If they are struggling there I feel sorry for them, based on my personal experience I don't think the casuals themselves are to blame, undermanning and lack of support are the prime candidates in my opinion.

I'm currently working there and luckily I took a day off on friday, when they finally decided to stop taking any more packets. Literally hundreds of yorks we're lined up and not being sorted and management didn't have a clue what came at what time and where from. May I add lorry drivers from amazon and other mail centres literally took the p*** sometimes strolling in and unloading there loads when there was clearly no space in the bay and people were busy booking in other lorrys, causing further problems. Regarding ratio between manpower and angard I would say there's actually slightly more manpower casuals there than angard, mainly due to people not coming back after Having there pay messed up or not recieving any. There were also royal mail perm staff but were mainly working on the special deliverys. Backlog has been cleared now though and when I left work last night there seemed to be hardly anything left to sort. Plenty of managers in now, I suspect the place is being watched very closely by top management.

There does always seem to some correlation between the level of interest from Top management, and the numbers of Operational managers that flood a particular unit.
