Angard Staffing - Now Fixed-term Employees?

Post by SimplyNuts »

Just a quick question, does Royal Mail's attempt to circumvent the new Agency Workers Regulations with the invention of their own 'in-house agency' now subject them to the "The Fixed-term Employees (Prevention of Less Favourable Treatment) Regulations 2002"?

What I find most amusing is, my 'agency rep' is still the same guy that I've had for 15 months with REED at Royal Mail, but now claims to represent soley Angard Staffing, his email address still sports 'ReedGlobal' in its address, as does every other contact for Angard Staffing (http://www.angardstaffing.co.uk/default.aspx?pid=19" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) and the fact I can still log on to 'Reed On-Time' on the Reed website with my Angard Staffing details, funily which remain the same as my Reed details.

The legal position on a company setting up their own 'In-House Agency' only to have it completely run and administered by a 3rd party agency to circumvent a law, would be interesting, sure its all above board, ha.

I know our union are looking into the Angard situation.
But tbh,RM are not thick, they would have the best lawyers money can buy looking through the whole thing before it went live.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
