TWELVE Christmas stockings will be delivered to wounded soldiers following a charity appeal.
Oakham postwoman Wendy Walker organised local collections for the Help for Heroes Christmas stocking appeal which aims to brighten up the festive season for injured servicemen and women.
Wendy, of High Street, Oakham, collected 12 boxes of goodies which she will personally deliver to the charity’s head office in Wiltshire today before they are sent on to Headley Court rehabilitation centre.
She said: “I would like to say a huge thank you to the people who supported the appeal by bringing in donations and giving me money to buy things for the boxes.
“I just think it’s important to let the soldiers know that we are thinking about them at Christmas.”
