THE boss of ROYAL MAIL claims posties are struggling with "modernisation" — after another loss in its letters business.
The firm trebled half-year profits to £187 million, but its letters arm fell £41million into the red as the size of the daily mailbag shrank 6 per cent.
Chief exec Moya Greene said part of the problem was posties finding it hard to adapt to changes such as the use of more technology and longer shifts on the streets.
She told Sun City: "Large numbers of people have done just fine. And there are a lot who've done OK.
"But there are some who have not taken it on board as quickly and a group who find it challenging."
Royal Mail yesterday said it needed to go "faster" on its modernisation programme.
Around 5,000 jobs have gone in the past year but unions claim the programme envisages 8,000 cuts a year.
Ms Greene would not give a number for likely job losses this year.
The Communication Workers Union called for Royal Mail to reward its staff with higher pay and "a commitment to job security".

Yes as is the Daily Mail and off course both can be held up as comparable to the journalistic nadir that was the Daily Sport.kingofmcr wrote:the sun is bastion of all truth and fairnessDGP1 wrote:It came from the Sun and as such I refuse to believe it (or even read it).

I'm not uncertain that I'd find it that difficult to 'adapt' if I were on a comparative salary plus of course the BONUS. But of course we're all overpaid and underworked already aren't we?? Yet more foul drivel from that corporate bag of bile...
You do the work, they get the loot. The men with the smiles and the 3 piece suits.

Whilst we appreciate the feelings of members I must post quick reminder of the rules as some "colourful" language is creeping in.
