Checks passed, got through on phone, wait for email?

I'm awaiting to start at Ipswich, basically I finally had my security checks passed today, and actually got though on the phone on first attempt, the lady said I shall be emailed from now to next few days, she told me to ignor the provisional offer I was given on my interview for the 29th of November , and just wait for a start day they tell me, is this actually correct? I don't want to ignor the day I was given and wait for an email, then it comes to next Tuesday and I still have no email and to find my start day really was the 29th? Any help ?

Judging by a lot of posts on here people have turned up on their provisional start date just to be turned away.
I assume that's a combination of poor planning and changing circumstances.
I would give it a couple of days and then get on the phone to them again,if you get nowhere by the 29th and you don't mind a possible wasted journey...show up.
