Threat of jail for man who held up post office

A NORTH Baddesley man tried to rob a Hampshire sub-post office by smashing the counter glass with a hammer, a judge heard.

Now Darren Angoy faces the prospect of a jail term.

David Jenkins, defending, told Southampton Crown Court: "It was a very bizarre attempted robbery.

It was made on the spur of the moment and one in which he was never going to be successful."

Angoy, 23, of Copse Close, admitted attempting to rob the post office in the Co-op store in Marchwood in August.Asking for sentence to be adjourned, Mr Jenkins said Angoy suffered from an attention deficiency disorder and the defence was seeking a report from his doctor.

Judge Susan Evans QC fixed his sentence for November 25 with the warning: "It is likely you will receive a custodial sentence."
