New non-executive board member appointed to GWAS

TONY Fox, a senior member of the Royal Mail Operations Executive, has been appointed as a new non-executive director of Great Western Ambulance Service NHS Trust (GWAS).

The 47-year-old is currently Logistics Director for Royal Mail, accountable for a budget of £970mand employing 9,000 people.

Tony, who lives in Somerset, said: “I am delighted to join the Board to help support the many challenges and opportunities facing the trust.”

His four-year term as a non-executive director runs from September 1 until August 31, 2015.

The appointment has been made in accordance with the Commissioner for Public Appointments’ Code of Practice.

As a non-executive director, Tony will be paid £6,096 per year, in line with non-executive appointments to public sector bodies. He replaces John Newman, who stood down as a non-executive director for GWAS in January 2011.

GWAS Chairman Peter Carr said: “Tony brings a wealth of operational experience with a track record of leading and motivating transformational changes programmes and employee relations.”
