Forensic officers were scrambled to Bungay Delivery Office, Earsham Street, around 6.20am, after a suspicious white powder was found in a mail trolley.
Police sealed off the Royal Mail premises while they investigated.
But the cordon was lifted around 9.30am after officers confirmed it was a non-hazardous substance, believed to be a medical powder.
A police spokeswoman said: “The powder has been tested and found to be non-hazardous. It’s believed to be a medical powder.”
