YOU might have to wait longer for their letters because of impending changes to the way mail is delivered.
That is the warning from Royal Mail, which has announced the introduction of “new delivery methods” in Kirkintilloch, which will be phased in over the next few weeks.
The changes, which are not expected to lead to job losses, will see postmen and women adopting revised delivery routes in a bid to address a drop in letters sent and the rise in heavy items posted brought about by increased internet shopping.
The new routes will see a longer delivery period - with more customers expected to get their mail during the afternoon. Royal Mail’s collections and delivery sector manager, Gerry McAuley, said: “We are proud of the high regard in which our postmen and women are held in Kirkintilloch.
“The changes to delivery routes will mean that a member of our local and experienced team will still be delivering to our customers in Kirkintilloch.”
