STAFF at Ormskirk’s Royal Mail sorting office staged a one-day strike this week in support of two of their colleagues who had been suspended.
The workers walked out over the action which was taken against two employees after a registered package went missing.
Postal staff returned to their workplace on Tuesday.
One postal worker, who did not wish to be named, said the two colleagues at the Ormskirk Delivery Office are still suspended.
He added: “Morale is very low among the staff.
“There has been a lot of mail going missing because of the changes to our shift patterns, but these workers seem to have been suspended without any evidence.
“They have about 20 years experience between them.
“To us, it seems that the bosses are trying to get rid of people.”
Mark Walsh, branch secretary of the Communication Workers Union, said: “There has been a lot of unhappiness at the delivery office due to the shift patterns changes – and this seems to have been the straw that has broken the camel’s back.
“They seem to have done away with fact finding and treating each case on its merits on these issues.”
A spokesman for Royal Mail told the Advertiser: “Staff at Ormskirk Delivery Office took unofficial industrial action yesterday in relation to an ongoing conduct case.
“We apologise to customers for any inconvenience they experienced as a result of this action.”
The spokesman added: “Whilst we cannot comment on individual personnel issues, Royal Mail has an established conduct process.
“This is agreed by the Communication Workers Union.
“ And we will always seek to resolve issues in line with these arrangements.”

Ormskirk Royal Mail workers strike over suspended colleagues
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

"Today’s workplace has become heartless and soulless. Employees are seen as units of labour, automatons, functionaries, objects for achieving designated tasks, and as costs to be minimised."

the conduct code is the best tool in there hands to abuse and manipulate my old do apparently has the top spot in ENGLAND! for dismissals .Though i miss the job after 20 years what puzzles me is suddenly all the management have been moved .I only hope that the dom who lied to get me out gets his just rewards for all the pain he has put my family through.just for the records B+H and Grievance Procedure not worth paper written on trust me the moment you fill in one of these they will hunt you down especially if pressure is applied to resolve them through HR and guess what these people tip off Managers .TRUST NO-ONEfishtank wrote:Any chance you could let your managers in on it?POSTMAN wrote: The spokesman added: “Whilst we cannot comment on individual personnel issues, Royal Mail has an established conduct process."
