Are all managers so ignorant?

Post by madelin4 »

Why cant our managers go to a course in MANNERS!! I was brought up with manners on how to speak to people but they are unreal! Its like "up to sorting and if you dont go right away and they standing there giving you a dirty look b4 calling your name joe blogs up to sorting now! I just think they way we r spoken to is not on sometimes, they think they own u! we r not in a prison camp but sometimes it feels like it!!! Manners will get you a lot more out of your employess DOM's. :Very Happy

Of course it's always the same faces who have to be asked several times to go to IPS (at least in my office) so it can be understood that people get angry/rude/sarcastic etc. they shouldn't but they do

Screws

Post by baldrick »

That's why they are often referred to as screws.
Some of them behave like they are prison officers ordering us around.
Perhaps the CMA should have merged with the Prison Officers Association rather than Amicus/Unite.

Our former DUM had a complaint made against him by a woman he insulted over the phone. He was sent on a course on how to speak to people. Whatever they told him didn't work. He's since been promoted and his reputation for throwing his toys out of the pram and his inability to speak to people properly increases all the time. The two screws he had under him are similar. One of them arrived at our office with a reputation for being unable to speak in a civil way to staff. Even the managers in his former office told me he was known for the number of complaints made against him while he was there. He became DUM for about two months, couldn't hack it and the other one had to come back from the office he was at to dig him out of the hole. This character started as a 16 year old. I trained him and from day one he was a 'firms man'. If he had been ordered to stand upside down with his head in a bucket of vomit, he would have done it. He used to turn into work like a little guardsman. Tie, peaked cap etc. As time wore on, he became a carbon copy of the DUM the woman complained about. Just about every expression and gesture gives the game away. On top of this rudeness, they're all thick. Get them on a subject which doesn't involve toy trains or rugby league and they're knackered. Yes, Royal Mail managers. Probaby the most contemptable shower of bastards in the world.

I think being ignorant is part of the job description.Tend to work at a snails pace if someone is pissing me off.Any decent manager gets shifted before too long, one of them with very good people skills told me that his boss didn't like him because he was too postman friendly.
Seems to be too many thick clowns standing around getting paid just to harrass and be annoying.Royal Mail management-what a f***ing joke!

There are some decent managers at my mail centre, at front line level
and higher up.
There are also a number of complete a*******s unfortunately.
And they all have to toe the Leighton/Crozier line whether they like it or not.

I have very little time for doms..however....The dom at my old office..i'd have taken a bullet for him,he did things for me which had he been found out wouldv'e defo put his own career in jeopardy.Granted since moving on it's been all downhill from there..gladly i've not had the dubious pleasure of meeting some of the hillbilly inbred roger ramjets i've read about on here...which im in no doubt is why i still have a job!!
if you aint payin..the mails stayin!!!

Ask yourself one questin: Did my manager cross the picket line? If the answer is 'no', then there is a spark of decency in him/her. If 'yes', we all know what he is.

Johnnypick and Big Daz - I'd keep quiet about having good managers, or
they'll probably be moved!

Two Royal Mail managers were talking. One says to the other, "Do you know, there are hundreds of ways to make the staff more miserable, but only one way to make them happy." His mate says "What would that be?" The first one replies "How the hell should I know?"
