For some, plans announced in March last year to allow more banking customers access to their accounts through the Post Office are still 'months away' from bearing results, This Is Money reports.
Current and basic account customers with various major banks can already withdraw cash and make deposits at Post Office branches nationwide - but some are still waiting for access.
In March 2010, as part of a £180 million review to 'revitalise' post office banking, the Government announced that 'detailed negotiations' were being held between the Post Office and two major banks to give those banks' current account customers access to core banking services at the Post Office.
However, the implementation of the deal with either of those banks is still being delayed - meaning many customers are still unable to access their current accounts at the Post Office's 11,500 UK branches.
The Post Office commented: "We are working to a target of the end of September for personal and business customers to be able to carry out withdrawals and balance enquiries via debit card at our branches."
