All 2c to be processed with 1c every saturday
Royal Mail have decided that they are wasting too much money on processing saturdays collection mails on monday mornings,so are going to process ALL mail on a saturday. This will mean 1c and 2c will reiceve the same service on a saturday, which as far as i was aware is breaking the terms of RM's licence? We have been told this is a NATIONAL policy, and will begin around the end of July.
This was told to staff in WTLL sessions this week, and a CWU rep was in attendance, and confirmed these changes.
Any other MC staff heard this?

The problems are :pyphon wrote:Don't see a problem with that, it it's processed quicker it means getting it to us quicker.
1.The general public are being ripped off,why pay for 1st when 2nd is getting the same service.
2.Staff who finish at 430pm may have to stay til 630pm on a saturday,do you fancy that?

I think it means the shift in the MC will be until 6.30pm.wayoutman wrote:

I'm not sure cutting off is something they do in Mail Centres.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Re: All 2c to be processed with 1c every saturday
Yes,i do mean the shift finishes at 630pm,that is when the dispatch will go out.
At the moment the shift on a saturday is 0600-430pm.
The first 2 and a half hrs are SA that are attached to ALL duties.
There is a pref exercise at the moment with various options,i think that if they can't get enough people to change to a weekend shift (thu-sun 2x8hr,2x12hr),then they said a possiblity of the hrs moving forward to 0800-1830 sat.

Re: All 2c to be processed with 1c every saturday
yes i have heard this at the moment the majority of the morning shifts are 6.15 to 2.15 tuesday to saturday.saturday afternoons have been mentioned also but i believe our union is still negiotating.hubbahubba wrote:Royal Mail have decided that they are wasting too much money on processing saturdays collection mails on monday mornings,so are going to process ALL mail on a saturday. This will mean 1c and 2c will reiceve the same service on a saturday, which as far as i was aware is breaking the terms of RM's licence? We have been told this is a NATIONAL policy, and will begin around the end of July.

what i can`t fathom out is why they have people in sunday working all day surely this is more expensive in the long run.
as a mon to friday holder i will be well pissed off. after all i moved from a delivery office to avoid saturday`s.
it seems royal mail is deliberately making the job as bad as possible to get rid of staff.

Re: All 2c to be processed with 1c every saturday
You could always refuse to sign for the S/A if they only offer it at the end of your shift. They can't make you perform S/A if you don't sign for it. Although you'll obviously take a big financial hit, if you loose your S/A. It's a hard decision, and not one I'd want to have to make.hubbahubba wrote:Yes,i do mean the shift finishes at 630pm,that is when the dispatch will go out.

If only it was that easy. The SA is on the beginning of EVERY early turn duty.If you want to do earlies, then you do the SA,end of.(this has also been agreed with the union at local level).andy2007 wrote:You could always refuse to sign for the S/A if they only offer it at the end of your shift.
