Post Woman clings to speeding Van.

In an event that happened literally down the road from the house I live in, in this little Shropshire (said with an air of contempt) a post woman, our postwoman, clung desperately to the front of her post van as some one tried to drive off with it. Having dropped a pen she jumped out her van to retrieve it and was instantly met with the sound of what we call “extreme scrumping.”

As the mischievous countryside scamp attempted to speed away she did what I feel most people would not have the sheer balls to do throw herself on the bonnet and scream abuse at the thief until he realized he seemed to have inadvertently stumbled onto the one post lady who was trained in Gaza.

Julie Roberts, 51, Clinging on for a full half a mile at breakneck speeds forced the thief finally gave up and run away. There are many things amazing about this story. For one, who the f**k saw this coming in the attempted theft of a post van in rural England!? Seriously, if i was dedicated enough to commit grand theft auto I really don’t think post women akin to the Liquid metal Terminator from Terminator 2 would really be one of the possible barriers I’d take into consideration. Is this in standard post office training? is there a hand book on how to properly lose all inhibition and jump that bitch like in ‘Nam. I am now terrified to receive my post. I’m worried next time she comes to deliver some Pokemon cards to my home and no ones in she’ll blow a hole in the wall and throw the package through killing my cats in the process. She embodies my soon to be invented “Hardcore post.”

All joking aside sadly this woman is about to lose her job as a result of the incident. Royal mail are claiming that the theft happened as a result of negligence on her behalf, i.e leaving the keys in the van for less than a second to grab a dropped pen. and this is unfair. She does not deserve to lose her job. she attempted to stop a theft that was in no way her fault and actually succeeded. the only thing she is guilty of is caring a little too much about post.

I mean… I applaud her dedication but if it was me the only thing that’d piss me off is having to walk to the next bus stop.

But whats happening to her is horrible and she deserves her job! most postmen would have to be paid in cocaine to give that amount of s**t. So if you care deeply about the situation write to the royal main and tell them just how retarded this whole thing was, because, Jesus Christ…. I want a postwoman who never really left ‘Nam behind

- can't even get the county right. Staffordshire and Shropshire both begin with 'S' and end in 'shire' but they're different places. :nana

I agree it is totally crap, I know Julie as I used to do overtime at our local mailcentre. She is a lovely women and is brilliant at her job. I was shocked that she risked her life to stop the theft, she should be comended not sacked. Unfortunately we seem have had a number of thefts in the WV sector, a guy from my office had his van stolen on rural delivery and was sacked, but strangely the drivers of 2 collection vans stolen on our patch were not sacked.
So good luck to Julie, it seems it's a lottery to her keeps their jobs and who doesn't.
