SAINSBURY’S is believed to be on the verge of buying Halstead’s Royal Mail delivery office.

The High Street site, which includes the sorting office and closed post office, is on the market for £750,000.

Postal workers, who collected a petition against the depot’s sale, claim a deal has already been done with the supermarket, so it can expand its store next door.
