How on earth they got an audience I will never know, I put them in the same category as 1970's charity pram races.oypostie wrote:Wern't they a couple of blokes who dressed up as old dears, told jokes and sung the odd song or two

Use them at Bristol Mail Centre for processing meter mail. Was brought in as part of World class mail. Huge contraptions, supposed to be faster and I think they are. Only thing is they make someone look as if they are part of a machine.

Re: 'Tube & Bracket'(wolves mc)
from what ive been told and seen is that there are 5 workers chained to the t&b framedisheartened wrote:I am gonna have to ask.....what is or are tube & bracket?
2 loaders at the front empty the ms bags and 2 workers on each side dtre to the correct trays then slide the box down the rollers and the worker at the end of the frame segs the mail into the york.
seems the new working system has speeded things up.

Re: 'Tube & Bracket'(wolves mc)
We now use tube and bracket at gatwick mail centre, there are six for 1c and two for 2c, it works better than the tables we had before which mail was tipped and sorted, the only problem was getting trays for them and also they had to be lowered because mainly women were working on them and they were to small to push the trays when they full of mail.

Re: 'Tube & Bracket'(wolves mc)
TBH us on delivery are confused by a lot of things, I think they should all be called 'big whirly sorty machines' but I'm sure our resident machine nerd will give us all a indepth lesson on all the machinesdisheartened wrote:I am unsure if we are working at the same firm,i can honestly say i've never heard or seen these tube & bracket contraptions, but i am only an mgv driver and have only done 32 years, perhaps i need to be more alert![]()

Sounds good to me, DGP."Big whirly sorty machines"
But then, what would we know? We're just the foot soldiers. We need the Corps of Royal Engineers to explain things.

Re: 'Tube & Bracket'(wolves mc)
Nothing too complex about them, they just make a few tasks a little simpler, ie; Tipping and segregating the work directly onto the frames rather than tipping work into another piece of equipment to then have it conveyed to be sorted into other equipment.
One thing that is definitely apparent is that it is harder to walk away from the area, that being said, as long as you don't take the piss then is there anything to worry about?
