WAS this Christmas card really early? Or, was it really late?
We usually expect to receive cards before December 25, not in the last week of February.
And, despite the backlog of post caused by the snow last December, John Barlow was a little surprised to find a Christmas card arrive at his Wantage home on Wednesday, almost three months after it was posted.
The card was put in a postbox, bearing a second class stamp, in Warwickshire and was date-stamped December 8, 2010.
It was sent to Mr Barlow by a friend who lives in Stratford-upon-Avon.
Mr Barlow, of Grove House, said: “It’s pathetic really. It’s clearly just treated as a joke.
“They got behind and never really bothered to catch up.
“I spoke to the person who sent it and we had a good laugh and recounted similar incidents. There’s no point getting angry about it.”
No-one was available for comment at Royal Mail last night.
The Oxford Mail reported in the middle of last month that Royal Mail said postal services in Oxfordshire had returned to normal, after several weeks of disruption.
The heavy snowfall before Christmas affected collections and deliveries at the busiest time of the year for the postal service.
We also featured the story of Ann and Ken Taylor, from East Hendred, near Wantage, who last month received a letter posted to them from London in November last year.
It finally reached their home after going on a 6,000-mile round trip via Sierra Leone, in Africa.
