Problems with post in GU area blamed on 'money-saving scheme

When was the last time you received post?

Many in GU postcodes are reporting problems with their post.

Our sources at The Royal Mail tell us that in our sorting office there are mountains of post that are waiting to be delivered.

It is being put down to a money-saving scheme.

It's called Van Share - and means that where there were once two bikes delivering to 500 homes each, there is now just one van delivering to 1,000 homes.

Postmen say that means deliveries are taking too long and letters are being returned to the sorting office.

At the moment the scheme's being trialled through the GU2 to GU5 postcode areas.

But it's set to roll out through the whole of the GU area in March.

We have contacted The Royal Mail for comment and are still waiting for their response.

Maybe all the revisions should have been postponed because none of them are working.

I live in Fleet and until recently had a really good postie but now we have some poor stressed-out postie from another area or a postie in a van trying to cover the whole estate late afternoon in the dark. When did this change happen? Where's my lovely postie? Also, I have been waiting for two parcels (one on a tracker) since they were posted less than 50 miles away on the 10th February. Can anyone help?

Chances are sunbunny they are in a backlog in the delivery office.

I wonder if part of the problem lies with the fact that Farnborough mail Centre has closed and the work is now done at Jublie Mail Centre at Kingston upon Thames.
