THEY have notched up more than 500 years of service between them, but have now bid farewell to their Post Office colleagues at a big retirement bash.

The Post Office Social Club was the setting for the send-off on Saturday afternoon of 14 former distribution section workers, who all retired on January 11.

One of those celebrating was Kevin Goodwin, 60, who leaves the Leeman Road sorting office after more than four decades.

He said: “I did 45 years and finished in the distribution section, after being a postman. Word got around and there were a lot of former colleagues there.”
