HUGE changes to International Destination Sort: 31 Jan 11

Post by PeterR »

Just received a couple of emails today about the huge changes to international contract services.
http://www.royalmail.com/newinternation ... ctservices" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

We are a small firm of specialist online book retailers, with about half of our sales overseas. We have been in business for 10 years and because of Royal Mail's excellent Bundle Sort service have been able to compete with US sellers in their own market.

It's going to be much more difficult to meet the new minimum spend requirements (this could shut us down completely if enforced), and it may be difficult for us to send mail abroad competitively if we have to use the new International Packets/Flats services for most of our mail when Bundle Sort is abolished. Because packets to USA are being reduced to one destination instead of four, Destination Sort may be feasible for USA, but we do not have sufficient volume anywhere else in the world.

:sad:

Kind regards

Peter

And what's more the International Packets service is going to require printed labels in a specified font. We've always addressed in marker pen in capital letters as we currently don't have any practical way of producing individual labels.

Well I was hoping to get some insight into the reasoning behind this. I realise we don't have a huge turnover, but surely they don't want us to end up having to queue up at the Post Office counter to send our mail, do they? We're paying them getting on for £4000 a year in postage.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
