Customers starting to give up hope of ever seeing Dundee mail

An angry Broughty Ferry man says he has all but given up on receiving letters which have been in the postal system for the best part of a month.

Article search The man, who asked not to be named, spoke out as Royal Mail insisted all mail from its beleaguered Dundee East delivery office is being delivered in the order in which it arrives at the depot.

The Dundee East office has been the subject of numerous complaints since a new delivery system introduced last month led to massive backlogs and scenes described as "chaotic" by Royal Mail insiders. Snow led to further delays, with some residents in the east of the city receiving no mail deliveries for more than a week at a time.

Royal Mail has recruited 380 extra staff in Scotland and 3000 across the UK in a bid to deliver all the Christmas mail on time. However, the Broughty Ferry Courier reader said he fears earlier mail may have been lost in the system.

"Under normal circumstances it is a rare day when we do not receive any mail," he said. "However, in the past three weeks we have received around three deliveries — each of only a few letters and mostly junk mail.

"What concerns me is that in the last delivery we received a Christmas card — the only one so far which is highly unusual in itself — and it was posted only recently.

"I have been waiting for banking statements from last month, which have not yet arrived. I also know of two important letters posted in Dundee the best part of a month ago which still have not turned up.

"I have waited patiently in the belief that these letters would eventually be delivered. Can I take it now that I should just kiss at least two weeks' worth of mail goodbye? That simply isn't good enough."

Asked to comment on the man's complaint, a Royal Mail spokeswoman said, "Customers who have any concerns about their mail service should contact Royal Mail customer services on 08457 740740 or visit our website at http://www.royalmail.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Maybe if RM hadn't have been so stupid and introduced an unworkable revision just before Christmas then this wouldn't have been so bad.

The time has come to stop turning the other cheek, time to stop shaking our heads in bitter dismay, time to stop mumbling our angry words.
The time has come for union.

Its quite clear the COMPUTER has got in wrong when deciding on the new walks. Our office has 3 offices and 1 implenting (small office) revision and its been nothing more than chaotic.
The union should be going back to RM looking for new ideas. RM have done it plenty of times.

It's the planner who has decided these things and just used the computer to justify them, you know the planners - the failed managers :nervous
