North Wales posties pull out the stops

POSTIES will be making sure the mail is delivered in time for Christmas whatever the weather.

Extra resources have been allocated to Wales and the rest of the UK to battle the backlog and ensure parcels and cards are delivered on time.

Yesterday was the busiest post day of the year with around 130million Christmas cards, letters and presents ordered online – including almost 7m in Wales.

Recently another 70 staff have been recruited in Wales in addition to an extra 650 Christmas workers to make sure the mail goes smoothly.


Across the country there have been thousands of extra deliveries in the areas most affected by the severe weather, delivering to around one million addresses.

There has been an extra £20m investment in additional measures to deal with most severe weather in 30 years with

significant extra resources in the North East, Midlands and Scotland.

In total 3,000 more people have been recruited to support the Christmas operation over the next two weeks.

The last posting dates are Wednesday, 15 December for Standard Parcels, Saturday, 18 December for Second Class items, Tuesday, 21 December for First Class mail and packets and Thursday, 23 December for special delivery.
