The mail service in a north Shropshire village has gone “haywire” with villagers receiving their post days late following the closure of nearby Crewe sorting office.
Some people in Woore, near Market Drayton, have reported first class mail taking at least three days to arrive, while others say they regularly have days where no post is delivered at all.
It comes after a recent shake-up of mail processing in the CW postcode area, which also includes Audlem.
Councillor Stephen Clifford, chairman of Woore Parish Council, said: “The post seems to have gone haywire in the last few weeks. Now there are days when we get no post.”
A spokesman for Royal Mail said: “When any such major change is implemented, some disruption is possible, and there has also been a significant increase in the number of parcels being delivered in the run-up to Christmas, but we have been doing everything we can to minimise any delays until the changes bed in.”
