Royal Mail blames new system for erratic Dundee East deliveries

Changes to the mail delivery system in Dundee East have led to some people in the east of the city going without their post since Monday.
Residents in the east end, Broughty Ferry and more rural areas have reported haphazard deliveries this week, with some not receiving any at all.
It is understood the Dundee East depot at West Pitkerro has brought in a new system but it is not performing as well as hoped and deliveries are behind schedule.
Murroes resident Fiona Freshwater said she and her husband had not had a single letter through the door since the start of the week, and they are waiting for a number of important items that should have arrived by now.
"It's just very annoying," she said. "My husband's waiting to sell shares and if you wait too long you lose out but we have had no mail this week in the area.
"The people who live next door are very upset about it. There's been no communication from Royal Mail. It's impossible to contact the east Royal Mail office and I have complained to head office who say they aren't aware of problems.
"We got some mail today but that's the first in days."
Mrs Freshwater added that if the postal service was struggling to deliver her mail she would happily collect it herself but the opening hours of Dundee East delivery office further complicate the matter.
"If we know it isn't going to come then we would arrange to go and collect it. But as it was always delivered late morning, by the time you realise it's not coming the office is shut."
Disruption
A Broughty Ferry woman said she had had no post this week and her friend, who also stays in Broughty Ferry, was waiting for three cards which she knew had been posted.
A spokeswoman for Royal Mail said the disruption was due to a new system.
She said, "Royal Mail has been implementing a new delivery plan for Dundee East delivery office. In the last week unfortunately there has been some disruption to our service.
"Customers in the Dundee East area have, though, still been receiving a daily delivery of mail.
"Royal Mail would like to apologise to customers for any inconvenience caused."

dundee east has been in for four days now, 27 yorks of live mail unsorted, dates from end oct, 14 yorks of large packets, whole walks are coming back, and family friendlies are taking them out at 7 am next day, then the 2 shared van lads go out at 10- 30 ish with the days mail, nightshifts every night, managers from angus, perth, fife sortin all afternoons, its carnage, absolute carnage, no door to doors been done, leave them was the cry, no ones using pdas, cause they cant be arsed, today the note taking and raised voices started when the fleet of vands returned at 2- 30, what a sight it is,
7 weeks til xmas, theres a chance to earn about 4 grand in o/t workin nights one lad reckoned, amazing stuff, we await the bullyin to start soon,
Oh, belter, its a split office, dd4 sector and dd5, but now we all sort the mail together, so a guy wi 3o years on dd5 has to learn the dd4 sorting, and opposite, prep rates are around the 4 a minute, what a hoot, the jobs never been so easy.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

And it's the new delivery system that the Royal Mail top brass wanted.... Need I say more? The words 'Run', 'Couldn't', and 'Whelk Stall' spring to mind

And even when they became discontented, their discontent led nowhere, because, being without general ideas, they could only focus it on petty specific grievances. The larger evils invariably escaped their notice.

Lol.
Just lol.
This is hilarious.
It's the fascinating beauty of a falling empire. An empire that is imploding in on itself because of its stupidity.
Lol is the only way to describe it.
Now, sit back fellas, relax, and remember. Work your time. The rest is RM's problem

this is brilliant
cant wait for ours to go live
The margins are tight as it is so if we have to sort a minute past what they reckon on the duty structures, then bang on.
I know what time I finish
