Postwoman Sandy poised to receive top award

A POSTWOMAN has proved she is simply the best at getting people to learn.

Sandy Best, from Swindon, is celebrating after winning a National learndirect Achievement Award.

Sandy won the learndirect Unionlearn Award which recognises her dedication to encouraging other Royal Mail workers to take learndirect courses.

Sandy said: “So many people had been promised a learning centre and it was one of those projects where you think ‘this is never going to happen,’ but with a bit of help we got there in the end.”

Sandy worked tirelessly to get a Communication Workers Union Learning Centre opened at her local Royal Mail depot.

Since the Isambard Learning Centre opened last year, more than 30 learners have enrolled to take qualifications with learndirect.

Sandy will collect the prestigious award at an awards ceremony in London, on Friday, October 22.
