Liverpool Mail Center to close this weekend!

Liverpool Mail Center is to finally close its gates for the last time on the morning of 9th October 2010. After a long fight to save it, Liverpool will be come the first major city conurbation NOT to have its own mail center. I dare say that it won't be the last one either.
I would just like to say a fond farewell to ALL the staff I met and worked with there in recent years......Job done & well done.
The battle may have been lost but the war will continue. It's just a shame that the 'generals' in charge have the same strategic inadequacies as those in northern France in 1914....'So when it doesn't work, lets try it again because the competition won't expect us to do it again.....wil they?' :mfo

Other city mail centres will go, its a huge asset good location can be sold off to developers.
mail centres will be located off major road networks, with no public transport access.

After watching the video, no wonder the place is getting shut . Just think it maybe a sad day for the staff but just think the money RM will be saving . Hail ............. Hayes and Ward.

Night shift move has been put back a week because warrington is a bloody shambles at the moment!

And what is the objective of all these job cuts and the end result?
More unemployment and when they find new jobs it will be on half the money.
More profit and for who? Not the average working man.
His wages will go down, his taxes and nat ins up and his/her pension down.
The rich get richer and the poor who knows?

Hearing rumours that Warrington is up s**t creek as we all thought it would, now that Liverpool MC has closed. Blue bags of returned items via the post offices are ending up there no doubt and are taking more than 72 hours to find their way back to the parent DO. Great for customer satisfaction. I've had complaints every day about missing mail & packets that have been 739'd, but are not in the office the next day.
It wouldn't surprise me if some of them do the rounds and come back via Carlise or Dumfries.

Warrington is a mess, mail is being stored in marquees because the place is to small, the Liverpool DO's are getting their mail at stupid times and half the drivers there don't know where the DO's are, they send the Liverpool drivers out to Warrington and Crewe and the Warrington drivers out to Liverpool, you couldn't make it up!
