A ROYAL Mail van rolled six feet down an embankment at Baggy Point near Croyde.

The driver, a postman making deliveries, was trapped in the van near the cliff edge.

Police said the vehicle had skidded before going off the road at 12.30pm today.

The man was freed from the car by firefighters from Braunton and Woolacombe using hydraulic equipment.

He was then flown by Devon Air Ambulance to North Devon District Hospital.

Police said he was suffering from pains in his neck and back, possibly from old injuries. His condition is not life threatening.

It is believed the coastguard were also called out to the incident.
