Home Delivery Driver
Primary Purpose of the Role
Responsibility for efficient transportation and delivery of products to customers using a LGV meeting company, customer and legislative requirements. To carry out driving duties as required by management, delivering and handling goods to stores. Collecting and handling goods and returning to base depot. Comply with legal and H & S requirements of both company and transport regulators.
Key Accountabilities
Drive company vehicles in a safe, lawful and efficient manner
Carries out daily vehicle checks
Recognises and reports defects on the Defect Report Forms available from the Transport Office
Fulfils all company and legal requirements with regard to the vehicle Tachograph charts and driver’s hours’ regulation
Carries out duties in accordance with the standards and requirements of the company’s agreement with the customer
Completes customer documentation, as required
Uses his/her best endeavours to adhere to laid down schedules
Completes and submits company documentation such as Log Sheets, in accordance with local requirements
Operates all vehicle ancillary equipment safely and competently
Maintains an even vehicle load distribution, secures and protects goods on and in vehicles with due regard to axel and gross weights, and in such a manner as to ensure maximum safety and protection during transit
Reports without delay, and in the required manner, all instances of breakdown, route deviation or delay, and details of any accidents
Report immediately all instances involving stoppage by the Police DTP
Vehicle examiners or other enforcement authorities
Selects routes, when required, having due regard to weight, height and width restrictions and at all times with emphasis on economy of movement
Safeguards, maintains and fosters good customer relations
Users and safeguards and agency/credit cards issued
Maintains his vehicle, trailer and person, in a clean and tidy condition with particular regard to vehicle washing, and wearing of the supplied uniform.
Maintain vehicle and load security
Displays initiative and positive judgment conductive the maximum benefit of the company and the company’s customer
Conducts other relevant instructions appropriate to the job or special circumstances that may rise
Recognise and support the right to search procedure on DSC and Next sites in performance of duties required of the Next contract. Making yourself available for search request
Be able to use A-Z street maps
Skills
Valid Driver's licence - Essential
Previous experience of driving commercial vehicles - Essential
Knowledge of geographical area - Desirable
Ability to follow work procedures and safety rules - Essential
Ability to read, understand and follow directions/instructions - Essential
Ability to move product which may require bending, stretching, stooping, stepping, reaching and/or lifting, in line with Health & Safety regulations - Essential
Ability and Flexibility to work shifts and additional hours as and when required
Ability to work within a rapidly changing environment
Salary
£19,848.45 per annum
Shift Pattern
Working any days 5 from 7, 208 hours per month

they missed the most important part out:
1. deliver packets to neighbour 3 streets away
2. throw packet/parcel over wall/fence and claim left in a safe place
3. just leave it on the doorstep
ps your'e job might go (sorry will go) and you'll end up working for those hdn clowns
pps you'll have to drive 10,000 miles a day
ppps you can have a big shiny dhl van but then there'll be cut backs and you'll have to use your own transport
pppps and pay for your own fuel
ppppps oh and work 100 hour weeks to cover all your 'unexpected new costs'

my m8 worked for them n said the same
