CHESHAM post office could have a permanent location due to a sub postmaster being appointed - but only if the public agree to the new premises.
The proposed site for the town centre branch is a 17th century building, situated next to Misty Moon Pub, in High Street, which was previously the post office for around 100 years until the 1980s.
Town and District Councillor Justine Fulford said: "I think it will be welcomed by the public and their thoughts will be positive. I am very pleased this solution is on the table and it looks to me like a completely sustainable location and a better size for the post office."
The closing date for public consultations is Tuesday, August 10 and afterwards a decision will be made taking into consideration any comments received.
People can comment on the proposed location by writing to Stewart Swabey, Post Office Ltd, Care of national consultation, PO Box 2060, Watford, WD18 82W or email consultation@postoffice.co.uk
