The only way I can see an end to the strike action is for the union and workers to up the ante.

It is obvious Laurel and Hardy don't give a toss about RM now or its future. AL looking to get out next year and his puppy dog AC will follow. We have now got to make sure our actions impact upon businesses as this is the only sector of society that the government seem to take an interest in or respond to. The Confederation of Small Business has issused statements that back our stance and once big business start to suffer pressure, will be put up Gordon Brown and his bunch of cronies to intervene.

However, before this can be done it is important that the CWU get the message across that this dispute is not just about pay.

I really doubt it, possibly something Laurel & Hardy would leak.

BUT at the end of they day RM cave in to demands and pressure from all sides and approve a payrise i.e. MDEC staff to OPG (umm Â£200 a month) and then 4.8% increase for all but where could they save alot of money to pay for this, the great RM Pension Fund (convienetly they took the payment holiday), I would not be surprised if within the next 18 months the Final Salary Scheme closes permanently and everyone is moved to an inferior scheme. They wouldn't in my mind do it immediatley let people celebrate a payrise.

Of course there be uproar over any such plans and RM would face even harsher strikes as not one person in the Royal Mail would be happy to accept this, just think of the posties who have been here 18 year and paid solidly for that time to then learn they loose there Final Salary Pension.

Seeing as the IA is about the strings not the pay offer (even RM agree that) No there is no truth in it. Its just black propaganda and very amatuerish attempt at that.

TBT its sounds like a few people are getting cold feet. I agree with you mate and would tell everyone to avoid royal mail propaganda and listen to THEIR UNION.

With 95% out for both strikes I don't think we have to worry about the waivers too much. Just got to keep speaking to them and try to keep them on our side.

Whilst I respect that you have opinions and sometimes they may differ from mine, but you should really investigate the source and validity of your comments/rumours before posting them.

Theres absolutely no chance that the CWU would give anything from our pension as part of the pay deal, thats one of the things that they are still fighting RM about, because RM want to close it to new entrants, i do think that the CWU might have to concede this position if RM agree to keep pension rights intact for remaining members, this is the way a lot of final salary pensions are going today, i myself would like to see it kept open to new entrants, but if RM get their way then in 10 years 75% of the workforce will be part time and i cant see them being bothered about a pension...UNITY IS STRENGTH.
