Robbers point gun at boy's head in Tameside post office

A 10-year-old boy had a gun pointed at his head during a robbery in Greater Manchester.

Two men armed with a handgun burst into the Edge Lane Post Office in Droylsden, Tameside, at 0915 BST on Saturday.

One of the robbers pointed the gun at the boy, the son of a member of staff, and ordered him to open the till.

The cashier set off the alarm and the men ran off, carrying a small amount of cash, along Manchester Road and into Charles Street, police said.

Det Sgt Jed Stubbs said: "It is difficult to comprehend how anyone could hold a gun to the head of an innocent child and we are determined to catch the man who did this."

The first robber was described as white, aged 20 to 22, 5ft 9in (1.75m) tall and of slim build.

He was wearing a dark long sleeved top, dark jeans, black ski mask, and a woollen hat with flaps covering the ears. He was carrying a black plastic string bag over his shoulder.

The second man was described as a white, 5ft 10in (1.78m) tall and of slim build.

He was wearing a light grey hooded top with the hood up, matching tracksuit bottoms, yellow gloves and he was carrying a light blue bag.
