People inadvertently leaving clues:packmule wrote:If they are getting to people from what is posted on here , How are they getting true identity ????
For instance:
1. I was on holiday last week.......
2. Yesterday on my day off...
3. I had a woman saying she will complain officially because I........
4. Had a Stage interview yesterday .........
6. My DOM did .................
All very minor and in of themselves very innocent but giving away just a little too much details for people who suspect they know the identities of the poster.
My advice is don't post everything be selective.
Don't post too much detail which managers and IB can pick up on.
Never post anything that can be classed as B&H (Its not in the rules just to make you behave).
Never post anything as fact that cannot be verified.
Do not post derogatory comments about specific individuals.
Do not name colleagues.
Basically just before you hit the SUBMIT button re-read the post to make sure its all above board, legal and perhaps most importantly that it is not implicating you or others in anything that is illegal, conductable or traceable.

Some people are just giving away too much about themselves, me I'd never admit that I was 3ft tall, had ginger hair plus covered in freckles and have to carry my balls round in a wheelbarrow!
that would be a dead giveaway!-

Re: IB on the site
Whats the point of IB snooping in this forum, when they should be out catching dishonest Postmen and managers.
The IB should not be acting as the Geheme StaatsPolizei der Königliche Post

For sure but there are a few people that will work a postie out of Royal Mail if they thought the person were making waves, dont give them more reason than they have to get rid of you. Keep it non personal dont give them even more amo.coxie wrote:i dont care if the ib or managers find out who i am on here, i do my job properly i dont have anything to hide nor do i do anything that could land me in trouble, but they will never stop me having an opinion on here, i dont say anything i wouldnt say to their faces.

Re: IB on the site
Maybe I'm paranoid, but not only do I avoid "Yesterday on my day off..." posts but I also don't post on the site during the working hours of my day off.

Re: IB on the site
out of 100,000 RM staff it might be a little difficult to track down a specific individual if the details are vague enough.

Re: IB on the site
It can be even easier than that, if I were to put an image in my post hosted from a server I run then I could get this much information about you ...

Re: IB on the site
mmmm I knew about neotrace but ipmap is very detailed, it still does not identify the individual, it simply indicates where the server is.
also what would be the point of trying to trace a Postal worker, it could be classed as harrassment and stalking.

Surely it is a violation of your democratic rights as a citizen of the United Kingdom & free speech.
It'll all be covered under the Official Secrets act, which we have all signed.

Re: IB on the site
If you're ever confronted with allegations about posts made on this site then all you have to do is deny everything, in order for them to prove anything they'd need to at least get Postmans sign up details to try to backtrack your IP address or seize your computer and forensically pull it apart to gain the evidence.
Just don't post things like - I'm Jimmy James from Jamestown DO and my DOM James Jameson is a total idiot
my apologies to that person if he actually exists

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
