39 HOURS A WEEK
How will the 39 hour week work ? If you now class a Saturday as a normal working day based on a 5 day week then 39 hours into 5 is 7hours 48mins a day, take off your entitled 40 minute break, then that leaves only 7.08, I can’t see how on certain heavy days you could complete your duty in such a time (especially with the summer lapsing) Ok there will be longs & shorts & later starts. This 39 hour week (for Full Timers anyway) could be a good thing, it gives you the chance to show that the workload is too much (especially with the extra d2d work) My fear is that many will continue to start early (working for free) & use there own cars & rush around cutting corners, therefore making the job look fine & making the managers look even better

Re: 39 HOURS A WEEK
from what i see on the agreement, it will be agreed in each office individually or locally on how you manage the 39 hours, it also says something like royal mail can keep say half an hour of it if needed as many times as they want and when you build up enough time you get an extra days annual leave, so the 39 hours is not that great you wont notice yourself working 1 hr less very often.
