HAS anyone else had a similar experience?
I live in Pitsmoor and use the post box outside the local post office on Pitsmoor Road. Collection times are 6pm on week days and 12.00pm on Saturdays, or are they?
You would think therefore, that if you rolled up at 5pm on Friday evening to post a letter, it would be collected and on its way by 6pm --- er, not necessarily so. On at least three occasions that I can think of, you would have missed the post, because the box had been emptied up to an hour and a half before the stated collection time!
Usually, this is not an issue, however, there are times when there is a deadline, for instance, I have to post my time sheet by last post Friday or my pay is delayed.
I could understand and sympathise if the collection was late, problems can occur and cause hold-ups but, to be too early!

You get hauled over the coals for being a minute early so I can only imagine what would happen if you where 90minutes early

Common mistake by our wonderful public. If this person had read the writing on the box properly he/she would have seen that the LAST collection times are 6pm and 12pm, but obviously this is expecting a little too much. I suppose we've all had the comments - aren't you early, is that the last collection etc etc. I usually say something like "surely you dodn't think I was emptying the box 90 minutes early?!". Usually shuts them up.TrueBlueTerrier wrote:http://www.thestar.co.uk/letters/Postal ... 6043546.jp

If the public left posties alone and kept their eyes open for burglars, rapists, car thieves, muggers, child abusers etc the country would be a far better place. But then there's no crime to match emptying a box early in the eyes of our great british public!!
How much worse can it get? A LOT F****** WORSE !!!

Re: Postal collection is much too early
If put a measured reply up as a comment there - hopefully someone says "Oh, I only thought you did one collection a day....sorry, Postie" but I'm not holding my breath.
I don't suppose your mouth bleeds every 28 days, does it?

I am a postman and I have never heard of "relief collections". Why would a member of the public know what one is?
