IN defence of Derbyshire postmen – they are wonderful. They are courteous and helpful in all weathers, often going beyond the call of duty. They are often the only smiling faces seen by the housebound.

Over the years, postmen's faces have changed but, young or more mature, the smile and courtesy have remained. So, accountants, hands off the Post Office. Whatever the cost, this service is value for money. Long live the Post Office and three cheers for our postmen.
