A funeral cortege for a postman followed his route to work.

And a floral tribute in the hearse was in the form of a parcel.

Adrian Hyde was killed in a crash as he travelled to his job and the procession retraced his routine journey from Ashford towards his workplace at the Royal Mail sorting office in Canterbury.

It left his home in Herbert Road, South Willesborough, travelled up the A28, ended with the service at Barham Crematorium.

Mr Hyde, leaves two children, Stephanie, nine, and Oliver, 13, and stepson Paul, 19.

The side of the hearse had the word “Daddy” as a large yellow floral tribute.

His widow Gina Trapmore had said he always loved his job and inside the hearse’s rear window was a floral arrangement made in the shape of a white parcel.

It had the Royal Mail logo, a stamp, and the words “Mr A Hyde.”

Mr Hyde, 45, died after his 50cc motorcycle and a car were in collision at Canterbury Road, Willesborough, three streets from his home, at 5am on Monday, October 26.

He had worked at the Canterbury sorting office for more than 20 years where he met his wife Mrs Trapmore.

Three men, aged 20, 25, and 29 were arrested on suspicion of causing death by reckless/careless driving following the tragedy and are now on police bail until February 9.

Witnesses to the crash are being asked to call the Kent Police Serious Crash Investigation Unit on 01622 798538.
