FIRE crews freed a Royal Mail van driver trapped in his vehicle after a collision with a lorry this afternoon in Knightwick.
Emergency services were called out at about 2.20pm after reports of the incident on the A44. The van, an Iveco Daily panel van, was travelling in the opposite direction to the 32-tonne lorry when the collision occurred, near to the turning for Suckley. The driver of the van sustained non-life threatening injuries and was airlifted to Worcestershire Royal Hospital after being freed by the fire service.
It is believed the driver of the lorry escaped uninjured.
Also in attendance were an incident support officer and land ambulance from West Midlands Ambulance Service.
Hereford and Worcester Fire Service dispatched two crews from Bromyard and one from Droitwich to deal with the incident.
The A44 was closed as West Mercia Police sought to move the lorry.
